James Matheson

Dr. Matheson is chairman and chief financial officer of SmartOrg, Inc a provider of processes and software that optimize project and portfolio value. He is a recognized leader in the development and application of decision analysis and serves as a consulting professor in the Department of Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University. He co-authored the widely used text The Smart Organization: Creating Value through Strategic R&D, published by Harvard Business School Press. In 1995, he received the Ramsey Medal, the highest honor in the field of decision analysis. Dr. Matheson holds a BS in electrical engineering from the Carnegie Institute of Technology and an MS and PhD in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
