Jane Maxfield

Jane Maxfield brings to DEF an extensive background in program management, education, counseling, public speaking, and nonprofit marketing and administration. She is an accomplished artist whose works have been featured at a number of U.S. galleries, and a professional writer with a series of bylined articles in art and counseling trade journals. Prior to joining DEF, Jane served in various counseling and teaching positions, including residential house manager for a women’s recovery center, studio art instructor, youth service provider, and high school teacher. She also held director-level positions at Viva Vox (a St. Louis-based provider of arts mentoring for at-risk youth), Women of Wisdom, and Rockhaven Center for Holistic Living. In these nonprofit management roles, she was responsible for administering grant applications, budgets and planning, board development, staff recruitment and training, and program evaluation. Jane holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University and a Master of Arts, Humanities and Spiritual Leadership, from the New College of California.
