Improving Advisory & Counseling with Decision Quality
The primary goal of Improving Advisory and Counseling with Decision Quality and its curriculum is to help young people make better decisions in their lives. The classroom-ready lesson plans, activities and resource materials packaged here are designed to provide application-based decision education to young people. The accompanying curriculum also serves to help adults familiar with decision quality apply decision concepts to advisory and counseling relationships. By becoming adept at decision concepts and skills, adults are better able to aid young people in making decisions. In turn, these adults become natural leaders as advisors and counselors.
Adults using these materials with their students will be able to:
- Deepen their understanding of decision concepts and skills as well as deepen their students’ understandings;
- Utilize decision concepts and skills as a way to achieve existing advisory and counseling goals;
- Explore successful lesson plans and resources;
- Develop or enhance existing curriculum by using prompts provided here; and
- Create authentic advisor and counselor relationships.
DEF encourages anyone interested in using these materials to contact the organization or John Frazier, 415.341.4685 or jfrazier@decisioneducation.org, for support and guidance. DEF can help individuals or organizations customize these or other materials to best suit the needs of specific communities or advisory and counseling goals.
