Decision Focus Workshop 2019 - Leaders
Chris Spetzler, Executive Director of the Decision Education Foundation, is passionate about bringing decision skills to youth. He has lead workshops with teachers and administrators through Stanford Center for Professional Development and teaches decision skills to youth through Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies, across the United States and internationally. In addition to teaching and developing decision skills programs, Chris supports educators and schools in realizing and evaluating the benefits of decision education. Chris completed a Masters at the Stanford Graduate School of Education and an MBA in International Management at Thunderbird. Prior to joining DEF, Chris was a consultant in the pharmaceutical industry, where he applied decision analytics in drug development.
Amy Stranieri has spent over 20 years supporting youth and their families. She is Chair of the Counseling Department at Thurston High School, where she has worked for 16 years. Amy began applying Decision Skills professionally after completing coursework at Stanford Center for Professional Development in 2009. Based on the value she and others experienced directly, Amy designed a College and Career Readiness Course with Decision Quality as the foundation of the class. Now in its third successful year with juniors and seniors, the course will be adapted for sophomores in fall 2018. Recognized as a pioneer capable of putting theory into practice, Amy serves on the Board of the Society of Decision Professionals and on the Advisory Council of Decision Education Foundation in addition to University of Oregon’s Counselor Advisory Board, Connected Lane County’s College and Career Bridge Group, and Lane Workforce Partnership’s School to Career Task Team. Amy earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Oregon State University and Bachelor’s in Psychology from Willamette University.
