4J District Project Team Decides New Schedule

From District Decisions to Classroom Practice

Our first poster highlighted our work with the Eugene 4J School District, where DEF partnered with administrators across four high schools to support a complex schedule redesign. This decision was controversial, political, and had many stakeholders. Using the Decision Chain, district stakeholders aligned on priorities, incorporated each stakeholder's perspectives, and made a confident, well-informed decision grounded in shared values.

As Decision Quality practices expanded within the district, DEF worked with educators and counselors, particularly those focused on supporting underserved student populations. Educators were trained in and used the tools Conversations for Clarity worksheet and the Equity Lens infographic.

The project team's process used the Decision Quality framework. Frame, Values, and Alternatives are three links of the Decision Chain.

The project team prioritized alternatives against values.

Each project team group identified their values and prioritized them.
